The Korean Cultural Center Los Angeles (KCCLA) will present a traditional Korean Cultural Heritage Workshop, 'Seong Geum-Yeon style Gayageum Sanjo' on Friday, November 2, 2018 at 1:30p.m. on the 3rd floor of the Korean Cultural Center Los Angeles in the Ari Hall.
At the tenth workshop of the year, master Ji Yun-Ja will teach Seong Geum-Yeon style Gayageum Sanjo. She will also teach two songs 'Excitement'(Heung), and ‘The Scent of Flower’(Kkochui Hyanggi).
The Gayageum, a traditional Korean zither-like string instrument, with 12 strings, is one of the most well- known traditional Korean musical instruments. Gayageum Sanjo is Korean instrumental folk music played solo with gayageum (twelve-stringed zither). All Sanjo start with slow rhythm and gradually changes to faster rhythm, making listeners feel tense and increasingly delighted. Gayamgeum Sanjo is made up of four to six rhythms: jinyangjo (slow), jungmori (moderate), jungjungmori (moderately fast), jajinmori (fast), and hwimori (fastest).
