Korean Cultural Center Los Angeles (KCCLA) in collaboration with California State University, Northridge Mike Curb College of Arts, Media, and Communication presents original One-Act dramas by Korean-American playwrights.
This event is the second highlight program of “The Korean Cultural Center’s 30th Anniversary Gala Performance Series.

An Original One-Act Drama by Philip Onho Lee
"A dying father leaves a key to the secrets of life for his son and daughter-in-law. It's up to them to figure out the mystery." Philip Onho Lee is the prestigious Paeksang Award winning playwright and novelist. He is the first generation Korean-American and wrote this symbolic play in Korean language. The English translation is provided by Ah-jeong Kim, a recipient of the 2001 Korean Literature Institute's Translation Award and Professor in Theatre History at California State University, Northridge.

Prodigal Daughter
An Original One-Act Drama by Vivian Keh
"A daughter returns home after an absence of 5 years to mend her broken relationship with her father. "Vivian Keh is a newly emerging professional playwright. A graduate of Cornell University with a BA in English Literature and the Yale Graduate School of Drama with an MFA in Acting, she writes plays based on her cultural heritage from a contemporary perspective. Her original full-length drama, Persimmons in Winter, was produced in February 2010 at the Arclight Repertory Theatre in San Jose.

Doug Kaback holds an MFA in Drama from U.S.C. and has served on the Theatre faculty at Cal State Northridge since 1994. His adaptation of Shim Ch'ong was presented at the Kennedy Center's New Visions/New Voices Festival in 2000.
