Embassy held an award ceremony of the order of diplomatic service merit, Gwanghwa to Amb. Anne Höglund, former ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden to the Republic of Korea on 30th of November, 2018.
Amb. Höglund has contributed to deepening and strengthening relations between Korea and Sweden in various areas such as politics, economy and culture during her tenure as Ambassador of Sweden to Korea from September 2015 to August 2018.
Amb. Lee Jeong-kyu appreciated her hard work and dedication on the development of relationship between the two countries and conferred the medal, Gwanghwa on behalf of H.E Moon Jae-in, President of the Republic of Korea.
Amb. Höglund especially managed to realize high-level visits to Korea such as H.M. King Carl XVI Gustaf(Feb, 2018), H.R.H Crown Princess Victoria(Mar, 2018) and H.E. Margot Wallström, Minister of Foreign Affairs(Feb, 2018) . And the bilateral trade which was $2.3 billion in 2015 expanded to $2.7 billion in 2017.
She appreciated deeply for the medal and mentioned the diplomatic relations between Korea and Sweden which will mark 60th anniversary next year and wished to build an even stronger friendship through a youth exchange in the future.
There were about 30 people present at the event and celebrated together including Amb. Christer Sylvén, former ambassador of Sweden to Korea(1987-1992) and Mrs., Amb. Lars Vargö, former ambassador of Sweden to Korea(2006-2011), Gen. Mats Engman, former head of Swedish delegation to the NNSC(Neutral Nations Supervisory Commission) and Mrs., Mr. Lars Frisk from Koreanska Sällskapet and Mrs., Mr. Sangsoon Lee, director of Korea center of ISDP and staffs from embassy.
Embassy would like to send our congratulations to Amb. Anne Höglund once again and thank everyone for their presence.
