Meeting with Music Companies of Sweden and Korea collaborating with each other in the field of K-Pop
On March 13, Ambassador Lee Jeong-kyu had a meeting with music companies of Sweden and Korea: Mr. Peo Nylén, Creative Director of Cosmos Music in Sweden, Mr. Andrew Choi(Choi Sung-Hyun), composer and CEO of ADC Publishing in Korea, and Ms. Emily Oh(Oh Joo-Young), A&R(Artist&Repertoire) of ADC Publishing.
At the meeting they shared thoughts on interesting topics including how the K-Pop has been catching world-wide popularity, how Sweden, the country of ABBA, has become such a strong player in the international music market, how the cooperation and collaboration between the Swedish and Korean music industries has been developing, etc.
Ambassador Lee appreciated the productive and successful collaboration between the two countries in the K-Pop area, taking examples of famous K-Pop songs based on the Swedish compositions, such as “Red Flavor”, a song by Red Velvet. He added that such a creative cooperation between the two countries should be further promoted as it would be mutually beneficial to both sides in terms of strengthening the market potential.
Ambassador Lee also asked participants’ attention to the cultural activities organized by the Embassy to promote the cultural exchanges between Sweden and Korea and to raise awareness of the Swedish people on the Korean culture: In the K-Pop area, in particular, the K-Pop World Festival Sweden Preliminary(scheduled on June 9) and the Korean Culture Festival(scheduled on August 25) are being held this year in Sweden.
