Silver Knife by Goblin Party from Korea will be performed at Contemporary Dance Festival presented by the Japan Society. by Goblin Party, which delves into the conflicting sides of female identity, conveying complex human emotions through the eloquent body movements of four women, will be featured.

The festival also features, from Japan, a revival of butoh master Akira Kasai’s renowned work , specially recreated to be performed by his son Mitsutake Kasai. And from Taiwan, choreographed by emerging star Kuan-Hsiang Liu, is a tribute to death and the choreographer’s late mother. Performed to voice recordings of Liu with his mother during her fight against cancer, this modern-day grief ritual is full of idiosyncratic movements and moments of serenity and peace.

Goblin Party’s symbol is the Korean goblin who enchants people with their magical power and does mischievous tricks. Since its founding in 2007, the Company has actively performed at prestigious festivals in and out of Korea. Armed with both humor and seriousness, the Company puts the greatest emphasis on communication with the audience, while making ceaseless efforts to make work that can expand the audience’s perspective.
