Events at KCCs abroad

Out of many national holidays in Korea, Seollal is the biggest and the most important holiday. Koreans start the day by holding a memorial service for ancestors, praying for the prosperity of the family, and expressing gratitude towards them. They make a deep bow to their elders, or Sebae - paying respects to them and also seeking their blessings for the new beginning. Then, people spend the rest of the day with family, eating traditional food, playing folk games, and sharing stories.

Over 120 guests – adults and children alike, were at the Korean Cultural Centre Nigeria to commemorate the Lunar New Year – Seollal on the February 5, 2019. They were welcomed by KCCN Director, Mr. Han Sungrae, who received the sebae greeting along with other guests. The children received money from the elders after performing a formal bow.  A documentary on Seollal and Korean folk games was shown. Everyone was happy as they played the Korean folk game – tuho. Winners received prizes afterwards. PyeongChang 2018 souvenirs - Hand gloves were distributed to everyone present. After the games guests were treated to snacks and drinks.
