The monthly Korean culture day – April 2019 edition took place on March 20, 2019 at the Korean Cultural Centre Nigeria (KCCN) Studio. The KCCN director, Mr. Lee Jin-su welcomed guests to the occasion. Ms. Jee Meeyoun showed guests how to make the Janggu drums from paper and they followed suit playing them heartily.
The Janggu is the most representative drum in traditional Korean music. It is available in most kinds, and consists of an hourglass-shaped body with two heads made from animal skin.
Isioma Williams (founder and artistic director of Drumview Concept, Member, CPI South Korea 2013) was on hand to teach guests the significance of the drums and how to play it. The event was indeed a wonderful time for those present.
