The Korean Cultural Center New York is excited to present the fourth New York K-Pop Academy this summer! This special program will consist of an intensive 4-week program plus cultural experiences that provides an in-depth, hands-on approach to learning the two key components of K-Pop, vocal and dance skills.
65 successful applicants will be selected through an online application process and placed into Class A or B, where students will be provided with 4 weeks (2 hours per day, 5 days per week) of intensive dance training. Students who apply for the vocal program will receive 2 weeks (2 hours per day, 5 days per week) of basic vocal training. Instructed by world-class faculty carefully selected from Korea, students will be able to develop a deep understanding of K-pop and in turn, Korean culture, through a fun, lively experience.
Dance classes will be led by YongJun Choi, dance director of JYP Entertainment, one of Korea’s top entertainment companies, who has also taught K-pop stars and cast members for top programs such as
The vocal lecture provides practical training of basic vocalizations, fundamental scales, diverse rhythms, and different genre expressions through hit K-Pop songs. The dance session starts from stretching, the fundamentals of K-Pop dance, toexpressing lyrics using sophisticated movements.
A final presentation will be held in the final week as the graduation ceremony after the 4 weeks training.
