This study day is for anyone interested in Korea. World experts will deliver papers investigating the contacts of the inhabitants of the Korean peninsula with the world around them. From the perspectives of art, archaeology and history the talks will cover periods from antiquity to the present. The study day celebrates the 10th anniversary of the opening of the Korea Foundation Gallery at the British Museum.

2. Korean painting and calligraphy

Have a go at Korean calligraphy and design your own fan or scroll painting. With a talk from curator Sascha Priewe. Sessions last about 90 minutes. Suitable for ages 7+
This workshop is to encourage young visitors to the Museum to get to know the Korean Gallery and to develop their artistic talent and to help them understand traditional Korean culture and art.
The workshop begins with a brief tour of the Korean Gallery.
