The Tenth Law Enforcement Experience of Korean Heritage

The Korean Cultural Center, Los Angeles (KCCLA) and Global Cooperation Society International (GCS LA Club) are jointly presented the Tenth workshop for law enforcement personnel.  The session was scheduled for November 10, 2010, from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, on the 3rd Floor of the Korean Cultural Center.

Since the first workshop in September 2008, approximately 450 Los Angeles Police Department personnel participated in the workshop to learn about Korean history, culture and language.  The purpose of the workshop is to help police personnel understand Korean heritage and to overcome cultural barriers.

For celebrating 10th workshop, KCCLA & GCS LA Club also created an essay contest for those officers who had participated in the workshops. We selected three people to express in words how the workshops helped them successfully deal with Koreans in the Los Angeles area. Three winners were rewarded the gift certificate from a Korean restaurant at the 10th workshop.

The 8-hour session includes lectures by professors from leading universities, a traditional Korean lunch and a tour of the Korean Cultural Center.

Commander Andrew Smith, Operations-West Bureau, was presented at the beginning of the workshop to welcome the attendees and Captain Matt Blake, Olympic Station gave the special lecture.
