Miss SA won the hearts of many when answering what’s the most important thing we should be be teaching young girls
ZOZIBINI TUNZI is crowned by her predecessor Catriona Gray of the Philippines during the 2019 Miss Universe pageant at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta, Georgia, US.
“I THINK we are the most powerful beings,” said Miss South Africa Zozibini Tunzi moments before she was crowned Miss Universe 2019 at the Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta yesterday.
When she walked onto the Miss Universe stage for her final moment she shined in a gold and silver shimmering beaded dress by Biji La Maison de Couture.
She had made it to top 3 against Mexico and Puerto Rico, and it was clear Tunzi would take home the crown after winning the hearts of many with her answer when asked the question, “What is the most important thing we should be teaching young girls today?”
She said: “The most important thing we should be teaching young girls today is leadership.
“It’s something that has been lacking in young girls and women for a very long time, not because we don’t want to, but because of what society has labelled women to be.
“I think we are the most powerful beings in the world and that we should be given every opportunity and that’s what we should be teaching these young girls… to take up space.
“There is nothing more important than to take up space in society.”
Tunzi is the first black woman to earn the title since Leila Lopes was crowned Miss Universe 2011....
