1. A Sign of Rain

In this janggu solo, Kim incorporates a variety of rhythmic patterns and playing techniques, creating a janggu performance piece that is the first of its kind. The janggu is widely known as an instrument that represents the rain, but Kim’s delicate right-hand stick work and powerful left-hand strikes paint an especially vivid picture in the listener’s imagination.

2. Pitter Patter

The first few drops of rain hit the ground. What is the sound of a raindrop? It is the impact of the raindrop meeting its end. Each drop lives a different life, making its own sound, its own rhythm. This piece embodies the sight, the sound, the sensation of the rain.

3. Golden Festival

We each come from different circumstances, different places, and different cultures. And so, we think that we are all very different, but we all face big and small decisions every day, face success and failure every day, share many of the same human experiences every day. Perhaps when we finally acknowledge all that we have in common, we will be able to celebrate together in a golden festival.
