Events at KCCs abroad


On Monday July 27, 2020, the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, Veterans Affairs Canada, and the Korean Veterans Association Unit 7 hosted the wreath laying ceremony at the National War Memorial to commemorate the Armistice Day and the Korean War Veterans Day.

On this occasion, Ambassador CHANG Keung Ryong, Senator Yonah Martin, Ms. Nelly Shin, M.P., Deputy Minister of Veterans Affairs Canada General(Ret'd) Walter Natynczyk, Canadian Army Commander Lieutenant General Wayne Eyre, President of Canada Korea Society Ms. Young-Hae Lee, President of Korean Community Association of Ottawa Mr. Eric Jeon, President of Korean War Veterans of Canada Foundation Mr. Jack Murta, President of Korean Veterans Association Unit 7, Mr. Bill Black and Korean War Veterans and their families have attended the ceremony to pay respect and remember the sacrifices and the courage of the soldiers who served during the Korean War.

July 27th is recognized as the national Korean War Veterans Day by the Korean War Veterans Day Act which was adopted by the Senate of Canada on June 8, 2010. It is the national day to remember and honour the men and women of the Canadian armed forces who served during the Korean War to protect peace and freedom in South Korea.
