"I have a dream, you too!!"
We wanted to meet the children in Zambia. See Africa through their eyes, subsequently sharing their experience. A camera is the medium that allows us to connect with the children for a mutually beneficial relationship that allows us to rediscover our dreams in the pictures that the children take.
quote from priest Cha Poong who participated in the Cumca project |
This exhibition shows photographs taken by Zambian children with one-way cameras as part of a project called Cumca (dreaming camera). The photographs portray the simple life of African children and hopes to give them a voice by allowing them to document their environment and tell THEIR story.
Korean photographer Young Joong Kim and priest Cha Poong realised while working on the Cumca project that having been born in a poor country might mean getting less benefits from modern conveniences but does not always mean unhappiness for them.
The Cumca project visited not only Zambia but also Mongol and Burundi and completed 17 exhibitions in South Korea.
Theatre 4 All, a non profit charity are pleased to present this exhibition to the world.
Donations raised during the exhibition will be sent to Zambian children to help build libraries, schools and hospitals. |
