Events at KCCs abroad

The Korean Cultural Center held an online screening of Korean films through the website of the Korean Cultural Center from July 31 (Fri) 4pm to August 1st (Sat) 4pm 2020 as part of the 'Day with Korean Culture' project.


It was the third online screening held for the local public and members of the Cultural Center as it became impossible to hold movie screenings in the Cultural Center due to the spread of Corona 19 in the host country.


The film that was screened on this day was <Gwanghae, the Man Who Becomes King> (Italian subtitle, director Choo Chang-min, starring Lee Byung-hun, released in 2012). At the online screening held for 24 hours, a total of 825 people watched the movie.

A conversation event with viewers called'K-Cinema Salon' is held through YouTube live from 18:00 on August 4th (Fri) for 1 hour to share stories about the movie and answer questions about the movie.

“K-Cinema Salon” YouTube Live recorded a total of 186 times of playback and 35 simultaneous viewers.

It was uploaded to the Cultural Center's YouTube channel so that even people who could not participate in the live streaming could watch the video, and a total of 229 views and 49 likes were recorded in one day.


Movie viewers responded positively through comments and emails on the Cultural Center's Facebook page, and some of them were introduced as follows.


-Carmela Nasca said, “Thank you for giving me the opportunity to watch Korean movies online. Everything from the actors' acting to the shooting location was great. I am looking forward to future movie screenings.”

-Maria Rosaria D'Antonio said, “The movie was very interesting. In the future, I would like to participate in the movie screenings held by the Cultural Center and also to participate in other events held by the Cultural Center.”

Unlike the online screening, the online screening of the movie “Gwanghae, the Man Who Becomes King” has no limit on the number of visitors.

The number of views on the website of the Cultural Center has increased significantly compared to the previous year, with 6455 views of the movie post page.

Particularly, the number of viewers has been greatly expanded by actively promoting it through cooperation with local film festivals and using movie trailer images.

The movie trailer post uploaded to the Cultural Center's Facebook page was viewed by 42,000 people, received 1978 likes, and was shared 366 times.

This screening was also conducted through a limited disclosure method for members of the Cultural Center's newsletter. As a result, 551 new members of the Cultural Center were registered and the number of new members increased significantly compared to the previous screening. In August, in cooperation with the Narni Music Festival, an offline screening of the movie <Taxi Driver> (Italian dubbing, director Jang Hoon, starring Song Kang-ho, 2017) will be held at the outdoor screening at Narni Priori Square on August 25 (Tue).
