A fall salon (gathering) hosted by masters of traditional performing arts will be held at the traditional cultural complex Korea House.
Enjoy free performances including the dances ganggangsullae and janggju, Jongmyo Jeryeak (royal ritual performing arts) and pansori (lyrical opera). Spectators may sit or stand at the outdoor theater.
Ganggangsullae is a traditional dance performed under a full moon in which people gather, hold hands and form a circle. UNESCO in 2009 designated the dance Intangible Cultural Heritage.
Jongmyo Jeryeak is royal music and dance that were presented at ancestral rituals during the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910). It was named in 2001 to UNESCO's Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity.
Pansori is a traditional lyrical opera in which a gwangdae, a lower-class entertainer traditionally called a clown, tells an epic story through song to the beat of a master drummer.
A janggu (traditional drum) dance is done solo or in a group along to the beat of the eponymous drum that is wrapped diagonally around the drummer's shoulders and performed according to the rhythm.
