In 1909, the Korean Empire was on the verge of losing its sovereignty to Japan.
Patriot Ahn Jung-geun and his comrades at a Russian birch forest pledge their lives for the movement for Korea's liberation. Seol-hee, a court lady at the time of Empress Myeongseong's assassination, also expresses her intent to join the independence movement. Hirobumi Ito, the first Japanese resident-general on the Korean Peninsula, heads to Harbin to pursue his dream of advancing into Asia.
Seol-hee delivers this news to Ahn, who plans to assassinate Ito. On Oct. 26, 1909, seven shots ring out in Harbin, China.
The performance runs two hours and 40 minutes with a 20-minute intermission and is open to those aged 8 or older.
