The Universal Ballet Company's (UBC) production of "The Nutcracker," a traditional favorite of the Christmas season, will run from Dec. 17-28 at Sejong Grand Theater of Sejong Center for the Performing Arts. This 120-minute work will feature the version by Russian choreographer Vasili Vainonen that debuted in 1934 and performed by the UBC under the direction of its fifth artistic director Oleg Vinogradov, a famed figure who served from 1992-2007 after serving in the same position for the Kirov (now Mariinsky) Ballet of Russia. The Vainonen edition displays the elegance and splendor of imperial Russian ballet.
