Myth and Love in Indian Classical Dance ODISSI

Fall in love with an Indian traditional dance. Sponsored by the Embassy of India and Art Beena (www.artbeena.net) the National Theater of Korea brings you Odissi, one of the eight classical dances of India that originated in the ancient Hindu temples of Odisha located in the northeast of India. It is characterized by graceful movements and sensuous postures, and it uses hand gestures and facial expressions to depict the themes from Indian mythology. Beena Keum, the only Korean Odissi dancer will perform four types of dancing. She already had a successful Mancha Prabesha (Official Stage Debut as an Indian Classical Dancer) in Bhubaneswar, the mecca of Odissi. A detailed explanations in Korean and English will be provided. The performance takes place on Sunday (Apr. 25), 6 p.m. and the ticket price ranges from 10,000 to 30,000 won.
