Performance

‘Feel Arirang' is a fusion arts performance featuring traditional Korean culture in a contemporary style. The term 'arirang' refers to ‘We, The Beautiful and Lovely' and such sentimental feelings have been integrated into the overall theme of the performance. The first part of the performance includes: Gil Nori, chasing away all the misfortunes and bringing in good luck; Chukyeonmu, a type of celebration dance; Janggochum, a dance performed to the many rhythms of the janggu (a hourglass-shaped drum); Gyobangmu, a dance taught at a Gyobang (a special school that teaches songs and dances that are performed at banquets or drinking parties); and a Buchaechum, a dance performed with fans. The Buchaechum is Korea's pride and joy, which has magnificent dance formations performed with fans gorgeously decorated with feathers.

The 2nd part of the performance is filled with fast-paced tempos such as a traditional percussions play of the Sogochum (a dance performed with small drums), and the sword dance of the shamanist chief mourner.
