The Korean National Ballet company will present “La Bayadère” in March. “La Bayadère,” which means “dancer” or “temple dancer” in French, is a classical ballet whose story is based in ancient India and features 120 dancers wearing over 200 costumes. This is the first performance of “La Bayadère” since the national ballet company brought in Kang Sue-jin, a former principal ballerina for Stuttgart Ballet, as its new artistic director. The ballet will be performed five times from March 13 to 16.
“La Bayadère” is an ambitious new piece first presented by the Korean National Ballet in 2013. It has been chosen by ballet fans as one of the most popular pieces in the company’s repertoire, encouraging the company to put it on stage.
