The Last Empress
Set during the mid-1800s and the telling the story of the Japanese occupation of the Korean Peninsula, the musical centers on Queen Myeongseong, the wife of King Gojong, and the social, economic and political turmoil at the time. The musical allows the audience to experience an intriguing period of time in Korea's history. It was the first Korea musical to be performed in New York's Broadway (1997-1998) and London's West End (2002).
The musical has had a rave of favorable reviews. "This production is impressive by anyone's standards... You will be impressed no matter your background," wrote Anita Gates of The New York Times.
