Exotic fountains hit just the right note with colorful soundtracks

World’s largest fountain-Dadaepo Sunset Fountain of Dream The Dadaepo Sunset Fountain of Dream, which stands at the entrance of Dadaepo Beach, changes its color and water stream in accordance with a lively musical soundtrack to keep visitors enchanted and entertained. The fountain shoots different-looking streams of water up into the sky in line with the music.

The Dadaepo Sunset Fountain of Dream opened in 2009. It is 60 meters in diameter and shoots water up to 55 meters high, making it the largest water fountain in the world. The water changes form according to which of the 300 songs are playing, including K-pop tracks, pop songs and classical music. Sometimes the jets of water appearing to be running back and forth; at other times, they create the impression they are shaking hands, or shooting up in a mist. These are arranged under 27 different themes.

This year, the fountain is operating from April 14 to Oct. 28. Performances take place once or twice a day and last for 20 minutes. A regular fountain experience is available at 2 p.m., 3 p.m. and 4 p.m., and a special sunset fountain show will run from 10 minutes before the sun goes down to 10 minutes after the sun sets. Additionally, a so-called experience fountain show will take place once a day, or twice a day during weekends, for 10 minutes after the music fountain show wraps up. At night, the music fountain show occurs from 7:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Fountain that best represents the city - Busan Station ‘multi music fountain’

Visitors from other cities walking out of Busan Station Square sometimes get startled when they are met by an unexpected performance in the form of the “multi music fountain” there. The fountain shoots up red- and blue- colored water into the sky, and the water streams appear to dance in line with the various forms of musical accompaniment that each represents a different side of the city.

The fountain that opened in 2010 developed from the Busan Station square fountain, which was the first of its kind to be set up in Korea in 1970. The new fountain sprays water up to a maximum height of 20 meters using 462 nozzles. In the middle of the fountain is a circle structure showing a continent connected to the sea, which symbolizes both the regional and cultural location of Busan. Meanwhile, situated around the fountain are five crescent moon sculptures.
