Aqua Planet Yeosu (Aquarium), the most popular pavilion at the Expo, re-opens the Aqua Forest that has been closed temporarily since May 20th due to considerations for the growth and conditions of the fish species.
Aqua Forest is one of the centerpieces in the Aquarium. The structure of the forest is modeled on that of the Amazon forest, inviting visitors to a marvelous experience. It is designed to look like a “forest lit by the sunlight” to stir the one-dimensional perception in some young people’s minds that “Aquarium is full of water” and that it could be “boring with nothing but water.”
Inside the Aqua Forest is “Photovoltaic Water Tank” powered by photovoltaic power which is one of new growth engines for Hanwha, a Korean company who constructed Aquarium. The water tank raises awareness among visitors about the significance of eco-friendly resource development.
Visitors will be invited to walk through the Aqua “Forest” enjoying the green environment, and meet hundreds of rare freshwater fish including sea dragons, sturgeon and piranhas who are hiding themselves inside artificial mangroves.
