The Ministry of Health and Welfare (MOHW, Minister Jeong Eun Kyeong) and the Korea Health Industry Development Institute (KHIDI, President Cha Soon-do) announced that they will begin operating the Healthcare Industry Damage Support Center on Friday, March 6.
Since April 25, 2025, the MOHW has operated the Biohealth Industry Tariff Damage Support Center within KHIDI, the government’s dedicated health industry agency, to help strengthen the competitiveness of Korean biohealth companies and minimize damage caused by U.S. tariff measures.
As the deteriorating situation in the Middle East is expected to affect Korean biohealth exporters and medical institutions operating in the region, the MOHW has expanded and relaunched the center as the Healthcare Industry Damage Support Center to mitigate the impact on Korean companies and provide swift assistance.
The Support Center will operate in close cooperation with relevant ministries, such as the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Resources (MOTIR) and the Ministry of SMEs and Startups (MSS), as well as related organizations, including the Korea International Trade Association, the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA, which operates the Emergency Response Desk for the Middle East Crisis), the Korea Trade Insurance Corporation, and the Export-Import Bank of Korea.
Biohealth exporters and medical institutions experiencing difficulties due to the instability in the Middle East may receive consultation and support by reporting damage and other on-the-ground concerns via email (tariff@khidi.or.kr), telephone (043-713-8551), or the KHIDI website (https://www.khidi.or.kr).
Jung Eun-young, Director General for Health Industry Policy, stated, “In close cooperation with relevant ministries, including the MOTIR and the MSS, as well as related organizations, we will continue to monitor the challenges facing Korean biohealth export companies and medical institutions operating in the Middle East and provide robust support to minimize the impact.”
