▷ National parks' wildflower viewing (April 8-June 4)
Wonju, April 11 - The Korea National Park Service (KNPS, Chairman Song Hyung-geun), affiliated with the Ministry of Environment, offers programs for wildflower viewing from April 8 to June 4. The programs will allow participants to experience national parks and enjoy wildflowers. Those who want to participate in the program can make a reservation at reservation.knps.or.kr from April 6.
During the program, visitors can enjoy guided tours and educational programs. The KNPS offers sixty-four wildflower viewing programs at seven national parks from April to June. A total of 1,280 seats are available for the program, and a maximum of 20 people can join each program. There will be no participation fee.
From April, the programs for wildflower viewing will begin in Naejangsan National Park (Jeongeup) and continue to Hallyeohaesang National Park (Namhae), Jirisan National Park (Hamyang), and Sobaeksan National Park (Yeongju). At Naejangsan National Park (Jeongeup), visitors can join the wildflower viewing program from April 8 to 14 where they discover pink-flower bugle and Japanese maple flowers, and other indigenous flowers in the park. From April 16 to June 4, every Saturday, visitors can explore lilac-colored Asian fawnlily and the blue sea in Hallyeohaesang National Park (Namhae).
Jirisan National Park (Hamyang) will offer wildflower viewing programs every Wednesday from April 20 to May 25. Visitors can enjoy spring wildflowers along the Hansin Valley. Sobaeksan National Park (Yeongju) will have two sessions from April 20 to 22 and April 27 to 29. The participants can find hidden spring flowers, including forest poppy, heterophylly falsestarwort, and Korean creeping raspberry, etc.
From May, Taebaeksan National Park (Taebaek), Jirisan National Park (Gurye), and Sobaeksan National Park (Danyang) will run the wildflower viewing programs. The Taebaeksan National Park (Taebaek) programs will be held for the entire month of May, allowing participants to enjoy a feast of spring wildflowers every day. From May 7 to June 4, people can enjoy spring flowers every weekend at Jirisan National Park (Gurye) through a "sky garden walk" program. The Sobaeksan National Park (Danyang) program from May 14 to 28th will guide participants to the beautiful scenery of Korean weigela, Korean anemone, and royal azalea every weekend.
Each national park will run its spring wildflower viewings according to the flowering period. People interested in the programs can find the details of schedules and participation on the Korea National Park website (www.knps.or.kr).
