MOGEF (Minister Kim Kum-lae) will held the 1st Forum on Women Friendly City at 2 o'clock in the afternoon of June 29,2010 at Incheon Bupyung Art center in cooperation with Korean Women's Development Institute. About 150 people including the head of Bupyung County, the government officials in charge of women friendly city at the metropolitan area, expert from various circles and women's federations will attend the forum.

Professor Kang Mi-sun of Ewha Women's University and other 2 speakers will present the themes of "Direction and Case of Housing Policy for Care Sharing" and "Fostering of Safe Community Free from Sexual Violence" and Chun Hyun-sook, a researcher at Korea Research Institute For Human Settlements will take part in the discussion.

To extend the concern and understanding of related society and to cultivate women friendly city business items to meet local conditions, three more forums will be followed*. * The 2nd forum (Busan, July), the 3rd (Chungju, August), the 4th (Kwangju, September)

Based on the Women Friendly City Forum, MOGEF plans to cooperate with the local governments to establish local base and excavate good examples through the support for education and consulting*.

* In 2012 consulting to be implemented by Korea Women's Development Institute, and education by Korea Institute for Gender Equality Promotion and Education

The Women Friendly City business will stabilize and activate women policies at local community level and further reflect women's rights in the policy making of city space, work, care, and health, and eventually enhance the quality of life at local community level.

MOGEF has been designating women friendly cities since 2009 as a new business model in local women's policy. Iksan City was appointed firstly in 2009 and 30 cities nationwide have been designated as women friendly city so far. 10 cities will be added in 2012.
