▷ Sharing advanced water management policies such as AI-based flood forecasting and observing the operation of key facilities like dams and water purification plants


The Ministry of Environment (Minister Kim Wansup) announced that it will conduct a field trip on May 19 for about 30 international students enrolled in the Global Public Administration* program at the Graduate School of Public Administration, Seoul National University, to enhance their understanding of domestic water management policies and infrastructure.

* Operated as a 16-month master’s degree program as part of a Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) cooperation project to promote international cooperation with public officials from developing countries.


This field trip was organized to introduce Korea’s advanced water management policies and infrastructure, and to strengthen the foundation for cooperation with foreign policy talents.


The field trip participants are international students, including public officials from 17 countries* such as Ghana, who are expected to play a key role in future policy-making and cooperation in their home countries.

On this day, the participants will receive an overview of Korea’s advanced water management and water industry policies, including artificial intelligence (AI)-based flood forecasting, and will visit the Korea Water Resources Corporation (K-water) Integrated Water Management Center (located in Daedeok-gu, Daejeon) to observe the water resources management system using digital technology. 


They will then tour the water resource management site at Daecheong Dam, one of Korea’s major water sources (located in Daedeok-gu, Daejeon), and visit the Shintanjin Water Purification Plant, where raw water from Daecheong Dam is treated, to observe the water purification process and the potable water supply system.


Kim Hyo-jung, Director General of Water Use Policy Bureau, stated, “This field trip is a meaningful opportunity to share Korea’s water management policies and explore sustainable water management cooperation with future foreign policy leaders.” She added, “We will continue to expand cooperation in the water sector with future talents.”
