1. Minister for Trade Bark Tae-ho, who is on a visit to Peru from November 28 till 29 for the 1st Meeting of the ROK-Peru FTA Joint Commission, paid a courtesy call on President Ollanta Humala on November 28. They discussed ways to further boost the bilateral cooperation, which has been expanding since the bilateral FTA’s entry into force.
° The two sides exchanged sincere views on specific cooperation projects between the two countries, including the implementation of the FTA as well as projects in energy, resources and infrastructure.
2. During the courtesy call on the President, Minister Bark delivered a letter from President Lee Myung-bak regarding Peru’s decision to import KT-1 trainer jets from the Republic of Korea. In addition, he voiced hope that the friendship and cooperation between the two countries will continue to deepen. The ties between the two countries have notably strengthened since the bilateral FTA’s entry into force in August 2011 and the establishment of the bilateral strategic partnership in May 2012.
° President Humala noted with appreciation that the bilateral strategic partnership produced a tangible achievement of the KT-1 project. He expressed hope for bilateral cooperation in various fields, including defense industry, science and technology.
