Celebration for designating Mudeungsan as the 21st National Park

 

Korea National Park Service (KNPS) under the Ministry of Environment (MOE) holds a celebration event on May 23 for designating Mudeungsan Park as the 21st national park.

 

Under the theme of “Be united with *Mudeung,” around 500 people including Mr.Kang Un-tae, Mayor of Gwangju Metropolitan City and Mr. Park Jun-young, Governor of South Jeolla Province gathered together in the event.

 

* Mudeng refers to a state of equality.

 

Minister Yoon, Seong-kyu of Environment highly speaks of the designation process in which the whole residents of Gwangju and South Jeolla Province showed a sense of sacrifice and a true meaning of communication.

 

He added that MOE will spare no effort to make Mudeungsan National Park an ecological treasure and international tourist attraction so that it can boost local economy.

 

A variety of events such as traditional cultural performances, themed films, photo exhibition, PR booths are prepared for the event. At PR booths, participants can make clay art and eco-friendly bag, and take a photo with Asiatic Black Bear doll.

 

Also, photos and documents are displayed to shed a light on efforts to restore and preserve Mudeungsan.

 

KNPS said that it will provide pleasant visiting facilities in Mudeungsan to create a park for healing and wellness of the public.
