Incheon Asian Games Organizing Committee

The 4th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games Incheon 2013 (AIMAG) will open on Saturday, June 29.

The opening ceremony of the AIMAG will take place in Samsan World Gymnasium in Incheon at 6:40pm on June 29.

The overall theme of the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2013 AIMAG is “Your Moment in the Spotlight”, and the opening ceremony will have the theme, “Let’s Dream Together”. The openness and the multicultural aspects of the city of Incheon and the diversity of the participants in the AIMAG will be focused.

At the Samsan World Gymnasium, a large LED screen will be installed, to display the ceremony in state-of-the art video quality. Citizens of Incheon will have a big role in the ceremony. The segment “Incheon’s People” will show a performance of some 80 citizens in traditional Korean percussion music, and the children from Yeonghwa Elementary School will sing the national anthem of the Republic of Korea as the host country of the AIMAG.

Park Taehwan, the Korean swimming superstar and a member of the Incheon Metropolitan City Swimming Team, will recite his story of beginning his career as a swimmer in the Short Course Swimming 25m, which is a discipline to be played in the 2013 AIMAG, to becoming a World and Olympic champion. Minho, a member of the popular k-pop band SHINee and a native of Incheon, will encourage the audience to join him in enjoying the 2013 AIMAG. Then, a multicultural family from Incheon will tell their story of coming to Incheon and adapting to the life in the city.

The Korean poetess Shin Dalja will recite her poetry composed for the opening ceremony, and Kim Juwon, a prima donna at the Korean National Ballet, will perform a special piece for the 2013 AIMAG. A choir from Soraepo, Incheon will also give their performance.
