The Organizing Committee for Expo 2012 Yeosu Korea on May 19 launched a promotional contest dubbed, “Find Expo 2012 Yeosu Korea via SNS Personal Connections!” in which participants find and photograph 12 official posters of the Expo, and post them on the Yeosu Expo website. The contest will run for 12 days until May 30, and residents of Korea, including foreigners, are eligible to participate.
After posting their photographs on the Yeosu Expo homepage, participants will be entered into a draw where the first-prize winner will be awarded 12 million won—equivalent to a year’s college tuition; the second-prize winner, 6 million won; and three third-prize winners, 1.2 million won each. One hundred additional names will be drawn and receive gift certificates from bakery “Paris Baguette.”
As the 12 posters are scattered across the nation in major cities, participants are advised to make the most of social networking services, such as Facebook, Twitter, and Kakao Talk to find the posters.
Cho Yong-hwan, the chief of the Public Affairs Office at the Organizing Committee said, “The event will provide the Expo’s volunteer promotional group ‘Expo Dream Supporters’ with the opportunity for communication and participation,” adding, “If participants ask for help from friends on social networking sites, they can easily find the posters.”
The Organizing Committee said the posters are mainly found in places related to “Yeosu,” the “International Exposition,” and “the ocean.” The Organizing Committee plans to provide more hints on the location of the posters via the Expo’s official Twitter page (twitter.com/expo_2012) and Facebook page (www.facebook.com/Expo2012Yeosu).
