– Commemorating the 80th Anniversary of Korea's Liberation: Revisiting the Legacy of the Independence Movement and the History of Korea-China Friendship and Cooperation in Changsha, Guangzhou and Liuzhou -
1. In celebration of the 80th anniversary of Korea’s liberation, the ten members of the “third Korea-China Youth Group for Future Friendship Promotion” will embark on a commemorative journey along the path of the Korean Provisional Government in China from May 27 (Tue.) to May 30 (Fri.), led by Mr. Nam Jin, Deputy Director-General of the Northeast and Central Asian Affairs Bureau at the Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
※ The Ministry of Foreign Affairs formed in 2022 the first “Korea-China Youth Group for Future Friendship Promotion” consisting of Korean undergraduate and graduate students and their Chinese counterparts studying in Korea, with the aim to help the youths of the two nations improve their mutual understanding and friendship through direct communication. The group carries out various online and offline activities over four months. The third group began its activities following a launching ceremony held on April 30, 2025.
2. The group will visit Changsha, Guangzhou and Liuzhou, home to relatively little known historical sites related to the Korean Provisional Government. In Changsha, the group will attend a commemorative event for the 80th anniversary of Korea's liberation at the local Provisional Government Memorial Hall. In Guangzhou, it will tour important sites associated with Korean independence activists. In Liuzhou, the group will attend a roundtable discussion involving officials of the local Provisional Government Memorial Hall and local university students.
3. Through this visit, the group aims to look back on the history of Korea’s independence movement and the history of Korea-China friendship and cooperation, while also reflecting on the role of youth in enhancing mutual understanding and friendship between the peoples of the two countries.
4. Ahead of their journey, members of the group mentioned that retracing the history of independence movement shared by Korea and China will help further deepen mutual respect and understanding between the youths of the two countries. They went on to voice hope that the youths of the two countries will build lasting friendship on the foundation of these memories.
