All-out Preparation for 2023 Saemangeum World Scout Jamboree
- The Government agencies collaborate in ensuring safety of the global event
Saemangeum Development and Investment Agency (SDIA, Administrator Kim Gyu-Hyeon), World Organization of the Scout Movement, Saemangeum Development Corporation, Jeonbuk Development Corporation signed a cooperative MOU on Pest Control in the venue of 2023 Saemangeum World Scout Jamboree* on June 13.
* Quadrennial youth camping festival held by World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM); the 25th Jamboree is held at Saemangeum (Buan-gun, Jeonbuk) from August 1 to 12; 43,000 participants are expected from 150 countries
The four organizations will assist with donating personal quarantine supplies (such as insect repellents) and cooperate in pest control.
SDIA is putting every effort into 2023 World Scout Jamboree, opening the SMG North-South Highway in July which will be a main access road to the Jamboree venue, and completing construction of Gyehwa reservoir in June to supply stable water supply.
In addition, ‘Saemangeum National Reclamation Museum’ is opening in July to show Saemangelum’s future image and value, providing many attractions and entertainments.
‘Saemangeum Marathon and Bicycle Road Race’ will be held on June 17 to enhance the Jamboree event in advance, and various cultural and sports events - KPop Festival in June and the Yacht Competition on August 4 to 6 - will be held over the World Scout Jamboree.
Kim Gyu-Hyeon, Administrator of SDIA, said, “We will support global adolescents who will camp at the widely stretched Saemangeum area and will draw their dreams as they wish, following the catch-phrase of 2023 Saemangeum World Scout Jamboree-Draw your Dreams."
