23rd Korean Women's International Network (KOWIN) Conference to be Held

- To be held jointly with Incheon for 2 nights and 3 days from Thursday, August 29 to Saturday, August 31 -


The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family (MOGEF) and Incheon will jointly host the 23rd KOWIN Conference in Incheon for three days from Thursday, August 29 to Saturday, August 31.


The KOWIN Conference aims to build a foundation for international cooperation by promoting the network of Korean women who are active in each field in Korea and abroad. This event has been held since 2001 and is now in its 23rd year.

This year’s conference will feature a keynote speech themed “Growing into a global backbone country with the power of KOWIN,” the Global Women Leaders’ Forum, as well as networking events to share the experiences and wisdom of Korean women to become key personnel around the world and seek a vision for the future together. 

※ 23rd KOWIN Conference: More than 300 Korean women (more than 120 from 23 countries abroad and more than 180 from Korea) are expected to participate


In the keynote speech (morning of August 29), Founder and CEO Lee Su-in of US-based global education content provider Enuma, which is ranked no. 1 in the math learning app sector in 20 countries, will share her experiences and philosophy on the topic of “Qualifications for success.”


The Global Women Leaders’ Forum (afternoon of August 29) under the theme of “Development and capacity building of next-generation Korean female professionals” will be participated in by female leaders who have distinguished themselves in economy, science, and industry to present and discuss their success stories. 

In the field-specific exchange program (afternoon of August 29), Korean professionals who are active in the fields of economy and management, culture/arts, and science/education in Korea and abroad will communicate and exchange and seek ways to strengthen the capabilities of Korean women abroad.


The MOGEF will award the Minister of Gender Equality and Family Award to 10 Korean women (9 individuals and 1 group) who have contributed to strengthening exchanges and cooperation among Korean women in Korea and abroad and to improving the national status of the Republic of Korea. 

Nine individuals will be commended including the following: Son Ji-seon, who has provided mentoring and leadership programs for the next generation of women in the United States; Lim Hyun-sook, who has taught Korean actively and promoted Korean culture to families adopting Korean children in Australia; and Choi Sung-hee, who has contributed to raising the status of the Korean women's community by providing daily necessities to the elderly living alone in Hong Kong during the COVID-19 pandemic. One organization?the Korean Women's Association in France that has supported women's exchange activities such as the Women's Leadership Forum?will be commended as well.

    

According to Vice Minister Shin Young-sook of Gender Equality and Family, Korean women are playing a key role as leaders worldwide.

“I hope this conference will be an opportunity to share the strength and wisdom of Korean women who have been active in various fields across generations and regions and spread dynamic energy,” she added.
