"Striving for a Gender-Equal Society Where We Work and Care Together"
- Message Commemorating International Women's Day, March 8, 2025
On the occasion of International Women's Day on March 8, Deputy Minister Shin Young-sook of the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family (MOGEF) stated, "I will strive to realize a gender-equal society where everyone can enjoy a safe daily life in a society where we work together and care together."
In her message, Deputy Minister Shin noted, "Our society is currently facing complex challenges, including safety from violence such as deepfake-related sexual crimes amid rapid advancements in digital technology and industry, increasing women's economic participation, and addressing issues related to low birth rates and an aging population."
“We will actively respond to crimes such as deepfake-related sexual offenses and domestic violence, ensuring that all citizens can enjoy a violence-free daily life. We will concentrate our policy efforts on enhancing women's economic activities and social participation, as well as strengthening support for caregiving and work-family balance to help overcome the current low birth rate crisis," she declared.
To this end, she mentioned, "We will introduce a deepfake-related sexual crime detection system based on artificial intelligence, strengthen the prevention of digital sex crimes and protect victims, and expand integrated (one-stop) support for victims of complex types of harm such as domestic violence, stalking, and sexual violence to continue our efforts for a peaceful and safe daily life for our citizens."
She continued, "We will expand vocational training programs at Women's New Job Centers related to new technologies such as artificial intelligence and ChatGPT, increase employment retention incentives for New Women Interns, and operate mobile entrepreneurship consulting to further promote women's economic activity."
"We will prepare the '4th Master Plan for Women's Economic Activities' to transform policies supporting women with career interruptions into policies that support economic activities throughout the life cycle," she announced.
Furthermore, she added, "We will expand tailored support such as government-supported child care services for dual-income families, pick-up and drop-off services, and emergency care to provide reliable care services that citizens can trust. We will simplify the preliminary certification process for small and medium enterprises under the family-friendly certification system and enhance effective incentives for certified companies to spread the culture of family-friendliness."
