The Organizing Committee for Expo 2012 Yeosu Korea announced on September 14 its plan to place 300" digital billboards in various places around the Yeosu Expo site for the convenience of visitors and participants.

The outdoor digital billboards, measuring 6 meters by 4 meters, will serve as information guides providing essential information on the Expo, as well as information on major events and performances.

Before deciding on the billboard spots, the Organizing Committee took into account such factors as visitor traffic, surrounding facilities, and places where no information booth is available. The digital billboards will be set up at four different locations – the first one in front of Gate 1, the second in front of Gate 3, the third by the main entrance near the Information Center, and the fourth by DSME Marine Robot Pavilion.

The billboards will feature a great deal of information on the Expo site for visitors’ convenience and safety. For instance, visitors will receive real-time information, including waiting time at each pavilion, foot traffic conditions and emergencies, on screen with sound and subtitles. Also, major sports competitions of the 2012 London Olympics will be screened at the billboard sites for visitors to cheer for their national teams.

In addition to the four outdoor billboards, another digital billboard will be installed at the Energy Park, while a mobilized screen vehicle promoting the Expo will be run in Odong Island in cooperation with Yeosu City.

“Visitors will be able to gain all the information they need from these cutting-edge large outdoor digital billboards, as well as various state-of-the-art exhibits and information facilities available throughout the Expo site,” said Park Pan-dol, deputy director general for General Site Operation of the Organizing Committee. “We will create ubiquitous environments that provide joy and convenience for visitors and participants alike.”
