Osong, 25 July 2025 – The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the International Association of National Public Health Institutes (IANPHI) hosted a three-day regional workshop from Wednesday, July 16 to Friday, July 18, 2025. The event aimed to enhance surveillance capacity for future pandemic preparedness and brought together public health officials from 10 countries across the Asia-Pacific region, along with representatives from the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA), and the ASEAN Centre for Public Health Emergencies and Emerging Diseases (ACPHEED).
* The International Association of National Public Health Institutes (IANPHI) was established in 2006, aimed to strengthen national public health institutes (NPHIs) worldwide.

This is the first workshop co-hosted by the three organizations held in Korea, recognizing the country's leadership in health security in the Western Pacific region. In December 2023, KDCA established the Global Health Security Coordination Office (GHSCO), and in December 2024, it was designated as a WHO Collaborating Centre for Pandemic Preparedness and Response.
