The Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission (ACRC, Chairperson Ryu Chul Whan) convened the on-site meeting on business grievances on July 8 at the Seongseo Industrial Complex in Daegu Metropolitan City, with the participation of about 20 officials from relevant agencies, including Daegu Metropolitan City, the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Free Economic Zone (DGFEZ), the Korea SMEs & Startups Agency (KOSME), and the Korea Institute for Robot Industry Advancement (KIRIA).
In this meeting, held in Daegu, the largest robotics industry cluster outside the Seoul metropolitan area, the ACRC discussed ways to address grievances by listening to on-site voices, including ▴ easing the requirements and providing financial support for the mandatory "Safety Certification for Collaborative Robot* Operations," which is required for installing collaborative robots in factories, ▴ strengthening software support to enhance productivity and upgrade technology in the manufacturing sector, and ▴ developing practical measures to address the shortage of skilled professionals in the robotics field.
*Collaborative Robots (Cobots): Robots designed to work in the same space as humans and physically interact with them.
Additionally, officials from relevant agencies who attended the July 8 meeting explained the policies for robot components companies and shared ideas on potential solutions.
After consulting with relevant agencies on the grievances discussed on July 8, the ACRC will immediately take measures to resolve issues that can be addressed on-site, and for matters requiring institutional improvement, it will review them and pursue policy recommendations.
Han Sam-seok, Standing Commissioner of the ACRC, who presided over the meeting, said, "We were able to reaffirm the technological capabilities and our robot components companies’ commitment to growth in the robotics industry, a key sector for enhancing national competitiveness." He added, "The ACRC will continue to listen attentively to businesspeople’s grievances and take the lead in seeking solutions, including regulatory reforms."
