Ahead of the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, a nation-level counter terrorism drill took place in Pyeongchang, Gangwon-do Province, on Dec. 12.

After observing the drill, Prime Minister Lee Nak-yon said, “Today’s drill made us feel confident about our capabilities for responding to any terrorism attack.”

“As we know that accidents can happen at any unexpected time or place, I urge you to take care in reviewing and checking, to find any new dangers at the last minute,” he added.

In cooperation with related government organizations, the headquarters will set up safety management measures and emergency evacuation plans for stadiums and other key facilities in order to prepare for all kinds of terrorism threats. It will play a central role in taking care of safety management during the Games.
