Korean figure skater Choi Dabin achieved a new personal high and finished seventh in figure skating at the PyeongChang 2018 Olympics. She has now become the first Korean women’s skater to make it into the top10 at the Olympics since Kim Yuna.
Choi scored 131.47 points overall, with 68.74 points in technique and 62.75 points in performance, in the women’s single figure skating competition, at the Gangneung Ice Arena on Feb. 23, which is her personal best so far. She ranked seventh with a total of 199.26 points, 67.77 points combined from the short program, on Feb. 21.
The Korean female figure skater broke her record made at the 2017 World Championships and achieved her personal high both in the short program and the free skate. She was praised for showing great possibility as a rising figure skater in Korea.

Choi danced to the sound track of the movie ”Dr. Zhivago” and finished her first Olympics without a major mistake. She was filled with emotion and shed not a few tears after her performance.
The gold medal went to Alina Zagitova of Russia who had 239.57 points (82.92 points in the short program, 156.65 in the free skate) and the silver medal went to Evgenia Medvedeva also of Russia. Kaetlyn Osmond of Cadana took the bronze medal.

Korean figure skaters were praised for broadening their base as they advanced to the pair and team event for the first time at the PyeongChang Olympics and achieved all-time high records in the men’s figure staking and ice dancing.
