Lee HanaTeam Korea claimed several more gold medals at the Asian Games 2018 on Aug. 31, just one day before the Closing Ceremony.
In judo, Team Korea competed in the finals in five weight classes and won two golds and three silvers. Gwak Donghan, fifth in the world, snatched gold after defeating Gantulga Altanbagana of Mongolia in the men’s -90 kg judo final. Kim Sungmin, competing in the men’s +100 kg finals, beat Mongolia’s Ulziibayar Duurenbayar and proudly claimed gold.
In sailing, Ha Jeemin took the gold in the men’s laser standard for the third consecutive time.
In women’s madison, track cyclist Na Ahreum sped her way to the top of the podium for the fourth time, adding another gold for Team Korea.
That same day, the women’s soccer team beat Taiwan to claim bronze. Also, the men’s handball team defeated Japan to win bronze.
As of Aug. 31, Team Korea has 43 gold, 54 silver and 63 bronze medals, occupying the overall number three spot on the medals table.
With just one day left to go before the Closing Ceremony, Team Korea will be competing in the final matches in men’s soccer, baseball and volleyball. The inter-Korean women’s basketball team will face off against China on Sept. 1, with its eyes set on gold, too.
