Lugers race down Pyeongchang track

Despite the freezing temperatures and snowy weather, the atmosphere was light-hearted and full of passion at the Alpensia Sliding Center in Pyeongchang, Gangwon-do Province, one of the venues for next year’s Winter Olympic Games.

A total of 32 lugers from 10 countries took part in the Viessmann Luge World Cup on Feb. 19.

In the men’s single event, an Italian athlete stopped the German dominance of the game. Dominik Fischnaller from Italy recorded 48.607 seconds in his first run and again triumphed in his second run, clocking a total time of 1:37.229, beating Andi Langenhan from Germany by 0.149 seconds. Samuel Edney from Canada came in third.
