The schedule for the summit between U.S. President Donald Trump and North Korea’s Chairman of the State Affairs Commission Kim Jong Un in Singapore is fixed to start at 9 a.m. on June 12.
“We are actively preparing for the June 12 summit between the president and the North Korean leader,” said White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders during a press briefing at the White House on June 4. “The first meeting will be on June 12 at 9 a.m. Singapore time.”
Regarding the discussions between U.S. and North Korean officials in Singapore and at the DMZ, Sanders said, “Discussions have been very positive and significant progress has been made.”
Regarding sanctions, Sanders said, “Our focus will continue to be on denuclearization.”
“Our policy hasn’t changed, and as the president has stated, we have sanctions on, they’re very powerful, and we would not take those sanctions off unless North Korea denuclearized,” she said.
