“Grow healthy and strong.” This is the wish of all parents who raise their children.
Infants and toddlers, however, often have stomach troubles or even diarrhea due to the still-developing digestive functions of their intestines. They even sometimes have to head to the emergency rooms at general hospitals with their parents. This is why many people use a special nutritional supplement to help the little children eat and grow up strong, without any disease.
This parental need to keep the child healthy was in the forefront of its planning when Ildong Pharmaceutical developed Biovita in 1959, using its own home-grown technologies. It is an iconic nutritional supplement designed to boost the digestion and nutrition of children, which many parents care quite a lot about.

Biovita's packaging has changed over the years. It can be consumed as a tablet or as granules.
Babies who begin eating baby food after about 100 days can start taking Biovita. The supplement contains microbes designed to boost digestion, which helps babies and toddlers absorb the nutrition they need to grow. It is particularly effective in improving possible nutritional imbalances found in babies who experience indigestion or who lack an appetite. It is also helpful for replenishing nutrition for a child's development, as it contains various vitamins and minerals, such as vitamin B, vitamin C and calcium.
The lactobacillus contained in Biovita is
Lactobacillus sporogenes, which forms spores by themselves. This helps them reach the intestines and reproduce without being destroyed, even when exposed to tough stomach conditions.
In 1969, Biovita took 34 percent of the total domestic market share. Since then, it has been the top-seller in this market.

Biovita can be consumed as granules. It's popular among parents as a nutritional supplement for babies after they begin to eat baby food at about 100-days-old.
International customers also have access to Biovita. Since 2004, it has been exported to Vietnam, known there as “Biobaby.” It can be also found on shelves in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Myanmar, the Dominican Republic and the Philippines.
This source of lactobacillus has also received international recognition. Ildong Pharmaceutical has been exporting three kinds of lactobacillus supplements, including
Lactobacillus sporogenes, to Japan since 1999.
Ildong Pharmaceutical’s Central Laboratory has been focusing on developing highly functional sources for lactobacillus, based on its own database library. The company has registered patents for lactobacilluses which can reduce cholesterol levels, inhibit
Helicobacter pylori or improve one's immunity. This lactobacillus is being used to make not only medicinal products, but also "health functional" foods. Recently, the firm has filed both domestic and international patents for the development of quadruple-coated lactobacillus, concentrating on research and development in the field.

Ildong Pharmaceutical provides a range of useful information about baby-care in their newspaper advertisements from the 1960s and the 1980s.

Ildong Pharmaceutical’s Central Laboratory is located in Gyeonggi-do (Gyeonggi Province).
