MBC and the U.K.'s Zigzag Productions have agreed to the joint production of a three-part documentary about artificial intelligence, and signed an agreement to that effect on June 13 in London.
Korean and U.K. TV producers will now be working on the joint production of documentaries.
The Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning announced that two Korean TV broadcasters signed agreements to work on documentaries with British media producers and broadcasters. The agreements were made during the Sheffield International Documentary Festival, or Sheffield Doc/Fest, in the U.K. The government ministry had organized events to promote Korean documentary makers and production companies among European investors, broadcasters and distributors at the documentary festival from June 10 to June 15.
The two documentaries agreed upon are "Future Human, AI" and "Mountains and Life." "Future Human, AI" will be made by MBC and the U.K.'s Zigzag Productions. The three-part documentary will examine artificial intelligence that could be of great benefit to humanity if disaster were to occur, and cover the choices that we humans have to make concerning AI. China's Shanghai Media Group will also participate in the production process, and the documentary is scheduled to be aired later this year in Korea.
Korea's JTV, U.K. broadcaster S4C and media producer Green Bay Media will collaborate on the six-part documentary "Mountains and Life." The documentary will remind viewers of the importance of our natural environment through the lives and societies of humans in the 21st century that live among mountains all around the world. The production will be completed this year and is scheduled to be aired in Korea around May next year.

Korean media companies share their documentary proposals with European producers and distributors during Korea Pitching Day on June 14, as part of Sheffield Doc/Fest.
Finally, the ministry also announces that other production companies, such as Mountain TV and Hiharber Productions, whose main fields are creative documentaries, proposed joint production and distribution agreements with German, Swedish and other European companies.
