A 43-day event seeks to promote domestic tourism through 14 duty-free stores across the nation in places like Seoul, Busan, Incheon and Jeju Island.
To run from April 26 through June 7, the Korea Duty-Free Festa 2024 will be jointly held by the Korea Customs Service (KCS) and Korea Duty-Free Shops Association, the KCS said on April 15.
The event seeks to revive the country's duty-free shopping industry by promoting consumption by domestic shoppers and visits by foreign tourists in time for peak travel seasons such as Japan's Golden Week (April 27-May 6) and China's Labor Day holidays (May 1-5).
Participating businesses will host specials over the period including on- and offline discounts of up to 30%, joint events like prize giveaways and individual programs that highlight each industry's unique features.
The KCS will place a duty-free shopping map with QR codes of major routes for foreign tourists to enable them to check where tourist attractions and duty-free stores are nationwide.
