The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) on July 21 announced their hosting of the K-Content Expo in Saudi Arabia, China, Turkiye (Turkey) and Poland between this month and November.
Launched in 2016, the event seeks to tap global markets by supporting the strategic foreign advances of Korean content companies.
The first expo is slated from July 22-24 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Thirty Korean content companies in gaming and broadcasting and some 70 buyers will attend.
The next edition in Shenzhen, China, from Aug. 19-21 will highlight broadcasting (short form), cartoons and webtoons, animation and characters. It will include consultations and a bilateral business exchange meeting on short-form content.
In the Turkish city of Istanbul from Sept. 3-5, the expo will cover genres like broadcasting, games, comics and webtoons. It will expand networks through operations linked to the opening of a business center.
And in Warsaw, Poland, from Nov. 5-7, the final event will feature broadcasting, animation and characters, and games through screenings of new content and consultations with European buyers.
Acting KOCCA Director Yoo Hyun-seok said, "We will strive for balanced export performance by genre through boosting the image of K-content targeting various market regions."
