A global forum for entrepreneurship exchange in conjunction with the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) has opened on Jeju Island.
The Ministry of SMEs and Startups on Sept. 3 said it will host "Global Startup Day in Jeju" from Sept. 3-4 at International Convention Center Jeju in Seogwipo, the island's No. 2 city.
The event seeks to uphold the three key principles of growth of the APEC SME Ministerial Meeting: innovative, sustainable and inclusive.
Three events will be held in an integrated format. The K-Startup Challenge Kick-off is the nation's largest startup competition; the K-Startup Grand Challenge seeks to attract foreign startups; and the Global Venture Investment Summit brings together over 70 organizations from around the world.
"'Global Startup Day in Jeju' is a starting point where startups and investors are connected and the global startup and venture ecosystem is expanded," Minister Han Seongsook said. "Based on cooperation with APEC member economies, we will actively support Korea's leap forward as a global startup hub."
