The World Bank on Dec. 1 announced that it opened the Global Digital Knowledge Center jointly with the Korean government.

Located in Songdo International Business District in Incheon's Yeonsu-gu District, the center is the World Bank's sole digital think tank designed to speed up digital transition, lead inclusive growth and create jobs through artificial intelligence.

Carlos Felipe Jaramillo, World Bank vice president for the East Asia and Pacific region, said, "Combining Korea's proven digital expertise with the WGB (World Bank Group)'s global network and knowledge, we are creating a platform that will drive tangible impact for governments, businesses, and citizens alike."

The facility supports research to stimulate digital development in developing economies, establishment of digital infrastructure, promotion of e-government, startups and capacity building for transition to digital economy, and job creation.

It will provide practical devices, analytical reports, technical guidelines, hands-on training and knowledge exchange to help governments and regions carry out digital strategies.

Kim Sangbu, World Bank vice president for digital, said, "Through innovative research, technical guidance, and targeted investments, the center will equip countries with the tools and knowledge to thrive in a rapidly evolving digital world."
